Camera Operator of the Year by the Society of Camera Operators for The Shape of Water

Gilles Corbeil's first camera job was in third grade, covering a sch

ool trip. His natural affinity for camera movement grew from there. He attended the Ryerson Film School in Toronto and shot documentaries in Europe during his summer breaks. He worked as a director of photography on several low-budget feature films, including "The Brain."

In 1992, Gilles bought his first Steadicam and devoted himself entirely to filmmaking. His main influences are Guillermo del Toro, Stanley Kubrick, David Lean, and John Frankenheimer. Credits include:

Gilles grew up in North Bay, Ontario, and has lived in Toronto for 40 years, where he and his wife raised their three children.NOTE:  It is possible that Gilles will be called in for a film and be unable to speak to our group.  Another speaker will be confirmed, should that happen.
